OG(H)AM: Harnessing Digital Technologies to Transform Understanding of Ogham Writing, from the 4th Century to the 21st
Principal Investigators: Professor David Stifter; Professor Katherine Forsyth (University of Glasgow)

The OG(H)AM project is funded by a Research Ireland and UK Arts and Humanities Research Council grant under the ‘UK–Ireland Collaboration in Digital Humanities Research’ scheme (UK Grant number AH/W001985/1, Irish Grant number IRC/W001985/1). The project is digitally documenting all c. 640 examples of ogham writing in all media, from its origin (probably in the 4th century) until the mid-19th century, from Ireland, Britain and Man. The documentation goes beyond stone monuments and includes also portable objects, graffiti, and two-dimensional ogham writing in manuscripts from the 8th to the 19th centuries. At the end of the project, all data, metadata and 3D models will be made available at the Ogham in 3D.
