Principal Investigator: Professor David Stifter<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Di\u24b6gnostic project, funded by an Advanced Laureate Award from Taighde \u00c9ireann \u2013 Research Ireland (project ID IRCLA\/2023\/2124; 2023\u20132027), aims at developing a new and more sophisticated corpus-based methodology to investigate the question if and to what extent Old Irish (7th<\/sup>\u20139th<\/sup> centuries) was internally differentiated by linguistic variation, be it diatopic or diastratic, and in what way this variation is reflected in the extant textual sources. A practical output of the project will be the revision and technical overhaul of the existing CorPH database (Corpus PalaeoHibernicum<\/em>), and making it regionally more diversified by adding new texts from different parts of medieval Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
