Dealing with Failure in the Ancient World
Alongside Eoghan Moloney, Leah O’Hearn is co-leading a project on ‘Dealing with Failure in the Ancient World’, which will examine how ancient Greeks and Romans conceptualised failure and appropriate responses to it, from resilience, recovery, and innovation to regret, dejection, death. Supported by funding from the NUIM grant scheme for Early Career Academics, Leah is organising an international conference (to be held in August 2025), which aims to explore the political, military, environmental, psychological, moral, literary, intersectional and/or social aspects of failure in the ancient world.
